Summary

The Ohrensessel app does not collect any personal data for us. There are no analytics, tracking or advertising services, no user accounts and no servers of ours that the app talks to. Your audiobooks and listening progress stay on your devices and in your own iCloud.

1. Data in the app

Audiobooks and progress. Imported audio files, covers, positions, bookmarks with notes, series and your listening stats are stored only on your iPhone and Apple Watch. Books and progress travel between iPhone and watch directly via Apple's WatchConnectivity (Bluetooth or Wi-Fi), not through us.

iCloud backup. If iCloud is enabled on your device, the app backs up positions, bookmarks, series details and listening stats to the iCloud key-value store of your Apple Account so they can be restored after a reinstall or on a new iPhone. Audio files are not uploaded. Apple processes this data in your iCloud account; we have no access to it. You can turn the backup off for Ohrensessel in iOS Settings under [your name] › iCloud.

Siri and Shortcuts. Apple processes voice requests according to your device's Siri settings. The app only receives the recognized command (e.g. “resume”).

Motion sensor. While the sleep timer runs, the app reads the accelerometer to detect when you shake your iPhone. The readings are processed on the device at that moment only and are neither stored nor transmitted.

2. Purchases (Ohrensessel Pro)

Purchases are handled exclusively by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment or account data. The app verifies the purchase locally with Apple's StoreKit. Apple's Privacy Policy applies.

3. Crash and usage data from Apple

If you agreed in iOS Settings to “Share With App Developers”, Apple provides us with anonymized crash reports and metrics. We use them only to fix bugs. You can change this at any time under Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

4. Support requests

If you email us, we use your address and the information you give only to handle your request (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and delete it once it is no longer needed for that.

5. This website

This site is delivered through Cloudflare's network. Technically necessary connection data (IP address, time, requested page, browser identifier) is processed to deliver the site securely (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). No cookies are set, no third-party fonts or scripts are loaded and no statistics are collected.

6. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, e.g. the Data Protection Commissioner of Lower Saxony. Contact [email protected].
